The Botanical Garden of Crete, also known as the Botanical Park & Gardens of Crete, is located near Chania, in the village of Fournes, about 17 kilometers south of the city. It is a lush green area covering approximately 20 acres, home to more than 150 species of fruit trees and hundreds of varieties of herbs, medicinal, and ornamental plants from around the world. The garden is a unique site in Europe due to the diversity and biodiversity of its flora.

The park was established in 2003 following a devastating wildfire that destroyed the area. From this tragedy arose the idea to create a space that promotes the protection and preservation of Mediterranean nature, while also offering opportunities for hiking and connection with the natural environment.

Visitors to the Botanical Garden can walk through beautiful terraces filled with trees and plants, enjoy the views, and learn about the unique flora of Crete and other regions. The garden is open daily from March to November, from 9 a.m. until sunset. Admission costs 8 euros for adults, 4 euros for children aged 6-12, and is free for children under 6.
